The Little Party Dress

Hello my Darlings,

I've decided to try a guest post on my blog which I have never done before so please let me know if you like it down below! The brilliant Peter Minkoff reached out to me to do a post on the timeless party dress and of coarse I was so excited when he sent me a piece so beauifully intertwined with fashion and the party dress at every angle. He can be reached at on Twitter or Facebook. I hope you all enjoy his piece as much as I did!

There is no doubt that a little party dress is the latest thing on runways and red carpet. It is a timeless wardrobe staple for every woman. However, the question arises: why is a little party dress popular nowadays? How and when to wear it? I tried to answer those questions as concisely as possible. Keep reading to discover more about this latest fashion trend.

Why is a little party dress a must?

Why is a LPD so special? Why is everybody so crazy about it? The answer is simple. Versatility does the trick. A LPD comes in all shapes and colours and consequently it is appropriate for all body types. You have long torso? Find an off-shoulder party dress. Opt for a V-neckline column-shape dress for an apple body type. It can be dressed up or down, which makes it perfect for any occasion. You will definitely find LPDs for any outfit situation. From a black-tie event to a casual party on the beach, a LPD is an indispensable piece. All this sounds familiar? Yes, you are right. A LPD is an equivalent to LBD. If you are not sure what to wear for the next bash, go for a LPD. Your choice will make you anything but chic and stylish invitee. On the other hand, if you do not have a LPD, do not hesitate to go shopping right now!

How to wear a little party dress?

As I have previously said, a LPD is appropriate for an assortment of occasions. I will start with a casual summer party. Transport yourself to the ‘60s London and choose a white sleeveless mod dress. Wear it with white cork wedges and a silver starfish pendant necklace. For a beach party, choose a green A-line printed dress with a V-scoop neckline. This dress is transformed into the chic beach dress in the twinkling of an eye with cute orange espadrille heels and some beach-inspired jewellery. A sequin LPD is ideal for a black-tie event. I definitely recommend a silver sequin LPD paired with black heels, a black blazer and a black envelope clutch. A LPD is perfect for cocktail parties as well. You cannot go wrong with a fitting pencil dress with twisted halter neckline, one-strap heels and a box clutch.

Celebrities wearing little party dress

I am mad about the Zuhair Murad shimmering blue mini dress with sheer cut-outs Taylor Swift wore at 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. Smokey eyes together with pink lipstick and simple stud earrings show us how a diva should look like. Kim Kardashian was spotted dressed in the Alexander McQueen red stretch-knit mini dress and gorgeous Sergio Rossi filigree sandals. This simple yet elegant look works well for any cocktail party. The combination of orange and nude colour is absolutely chic. Just see how Gwyneth Paltrow paired the orange draped dress with nude peep-toe pump heels. She had the black patent belt to add the finishing touch to the outfit. Finally, I would like to mention Camilla Belle’s floral Prada dress which featured a white sleeveless dress under a long-sleeved light blue knitted dress.

At the end of the day, I recommend that you opt for a little party dress you can dress up or down with accessories and make-up. If you run out of ideas, you always have our beloved celebrities to inspire you.

Kim
